| The day started before
the sun - cold, clear, dark, and full of excitement. The race volunteers
and race teams awaited the rangers to open the gates. Some of the
volunteers dispersed to begin the parking procedures for the participants
and spectators who had already gathered. Once the rangers had arrived
and
we had entered the park, volunteers and sponsors went to work
setting up their tents, banners, tables, signs, tech support and other
various stations while the racers lined up at the registration booths.
The sun came up and began to brighten the
day. We couldn't have asked for better weather. The announcements
began and the hustle and bustle of 320 race participants prepared
for the upcoming events. |
